  1. A serious problem made so simple in this image, captures really what’s going on. How can any of this ever be solved if each viewpoint is so drastically different?

  2. Mayor Tarzan’s recent tirade against the anshax xumo of the Dayuus Baro at Liido beach (which is what I assumed prompted u to pose this picture) doesn’t fit into the caricature of the Islamist stick-man u have up there. Even from a purely Somali cultural stand point, which is ofcourse greatly influenced by the ethos of Islam, if not the letter of It’s laws, doesn’t look kindly upon scantily clad woman, especially in a beach environment. And it was from this socially conservative cultural perspective that Mayor Tarzan’s objections were stemming.

As for the general point your picture gets across, then there is no doubt that there is a battle in somalia between Western (liberal democracy), Islamist (Sharia) and traditional (Xeer) laws and cultural norms.
